Eilers Machine and Welding is a metal fabrication job shop that has been in business for 37 years. We are a family owned and operated business that services anyone from the US government to the AG community.
We are searching for a qualified Shop Floor Manager with extensive previous Manufacturing experience. It is crucial that this person not only have manufacturing experience, but experience in or running a job shop. This person will oversee all processes that go into manufacturing the finished product.
The Shop Floor Manager needs to be the leader of Eilers Machine and Welding. They need to set the tone for how work is done. I want the energy of this person to be so infectious that it sets the pace for everyone working under or beside this person. The shop floor manager needs to arrive before their workers to ensure all operations are staged and ready for the work day as well as here at night prepping for the next day. This role is not a 9-5 job. We are wanting whoever we hire to take pride in the business like it is their own. That being said, we expect over time with training and growth, others will be promoted to managerial positions as well so that it will not be such a time-consuming position. We want to be able to trust that whoever we hire for the production manager position will attain the attributes it takes to be able to train whoever they see fit with the potential to help run the shop floor.
Eilers Machine recently lost their shop floor supervisor and we are now in need of a new Commander and Chief. We are very selective in our hiring process for this position because our goal for whoever we choose to take on this role will continue to be promoted as they acquire the necessary experience it will take to run a governmental job shop. While this person is in the Shop Floor Manager role they will be working directly under the President while working alongside a scheduler to complete the day to day tasks needed to keep production flowing. Overtime, it is our goal, to pass off more and more responsibilities while stepping back and letting the up and coming leader do the heavy lifting while eventually making the day to day business decisions. The more responsibilities that are given and mastered will be reflected in their salary.
The Shop Floor Manager will be responsible to ensure that each product is fabricated efficiently and precisely, resulting in a high-quality product that is delivered swiftly and on time; as well as oversee all personnel in the plant. The Shop Floor Manager will be expected to report to the president and upper management regularly ensuring goals are being met and operations are running smoothly.
Eilers Machine averages 30 employees at any given time and the Shop Floor Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of every operation including but not limited to office personnel, scheduling, engineering, production employees, quality, shipping and receiving as well as checking in with all other managers in the plant. Every step in the process of a job shop like Eilers Machine flows together so it is important that the production manager is involved a little in every step of the process.
We are wanting someone with CNC experience who has worked with CNC machines in the past and can read codes. We would like someone with experience programming machines so they can effectively oversee the machining department. It is critical that whoever is placed in this role have a strong understanding of what goes into machining and programming parts in order to be of utmost support for this department.
On top of Machining experience, this person must also have a considerable amount of background in tool and die. The production manager needs to be proficient in designing fixtures. Before a part makes it to this step in the manufacturing process, it is essential that whoever we hire have a clear plan in place as to what fixturing will be made and have the employee scheduled to fabricate it so it is staged when the part is ready for that operation.
All of this being said, we are needing a teacher. We have so many production employees who are hard workers and eager to learn. We need that person who is willing and able to take charge and train them.
The morale in our shop means everything to our company! We pride ourselves in being a family owned and operated business and this provides us the opportunity to care for each and every employee on a more personal level. It is necessary that the production manager have the necessary skills to help continue with positive morale as well as help train and motivate them to their fullest potential.
